A Narrow-Depth Row House Design
No matter bamboo house or arcade architecture, after extracting their prototype, we can find out that this narrow-depth row module is popular all around the world. In China, this kind of dwelling is usually seen in old towns and not only are they used as residences but they also have other functions at the same time such as grocery stores, restaurants and so on which means they have limitless possibilities. When they assemble in an area, because of their multipurpose functions, they create a shared, harmonious and abundant neighborhood life. But due to their poor lighting environment and disorder spacial usage, they are not so comfortable and convenient to use. After doing some investigations, we were wondering if we can find a new strategy to renovate this kind of houses and improve their condition, making a new kind of spacial prototype, which is just like a high efficient integrated molecule, so that they can maintain their multiple possibilities but have much better spacial quality at the same time.
So, how to translate a traditional narrow-depth row prototype into a high efficiency integrated molecule?
Here is LONG PLAN. LONG-PLAN use a traditional but intelligent building prototype with zero-energy technology and four strategies-Comfort(+), Savings(-), Benefits(×) and Module(÷), to let a ecological, cultural and technological life goes back to not only the new city, but also the historical urban area.
